A brush assembly is connected to the mechanical motion mechanism so that the plastic barrier rail produces a voltage divider.The WDD35D4 potentiometer is connected to a stable DC voltage (allowing for small currents) at both ends of the barrier rail (1,2 ). The signal voltage is the main part of the voltage divider when measuring between the brushes and the corrected conductive plastic resistor rail and is proportional to the position of the brushes on the resistor rail. the WDD35D4 potentiometer acts as a voltage divider, so it is possible to avoid focusing on the accuracy of the total resistance of the conductive plastic resistor rail as temperature fluctuations only have an effect on the resistance but do not affect the measurement results.
